Help as much as you can

We have already achieved a lot. With your donations, a new home with reasonable sanitary facilities and enough space to eat, do homework and play together was built. And a primary school, which is now attended not only by the Mingi children, but also by other children from the Omo Valley, was built on the site.

Now your donation will primarily provide basic supplies (food, clothing, medical care, education at secondary schools etc.). And a school bus to bring the children from the surrounding regions to school is also urgently needed. We are currently working towards this funding.

But not only the corona situation, which has now lasted a year (thank God, everyone is healthy so far!) makes collecting donations difficult at the moment. Since the beginning of 2020, the American sponsor, who has supported Lale and his team so far, has withdrawn from the project because he wants to focus more on adoption placement. And this orientation does not fit with Lale’s concept, who wants to raise his children to be well-educated, capable adults who are able to think outside the box and change the fortunes of their own country in the long term and sustainably.

Thus, the financing of the children’s needs is currently exclusively with our small Austrian association OMO Child Äthiopien Austria. But we hope that it won’t stay that way for long, because a supporter in Germany is also planning to found an association in order to increase the amount of donations. We hope to be able to tell you more about it soon!

  • above € 10.000

  • € 5.000 – 9.999

  • € 3.000 – 4.999

  • € 1.000 – 2.999

Of course a group of people can also act as a donor.
If your financial donation is in one of the above categories, and if you so wish, we will publish your company’s logo and the amount donated on the OMO Child Ethiopia website.

You can support OMO Child by purchasing one or more (symbolic) bricks; one brick costs EUR 25

Every Euro helps! However, to make a long-term impact, sponsorships are definitely the better option.

To support one child for one year costs USD 2,500. As with most globally recognized NGOs, this sum has been calculated by dividing the monthly overhead costs by the number of children who need to be looked after.

USD 2500 a year is not an amount that everyone can afford or is comfortable with. For these reasons, a sponsorship can be divided up among several people. As we wanted to use round numbers, we have worked out the following variants:

25% sponsorship

  • 600,- Euro year

50% sponsorship

  • 1.200,- Euro year

75% sponsorship

  • 1.800,- Euro year

100% sponsorship

  • 2.400,- Euro year

Of course, a sponsorship can also be shared among a group of like-minded people such as a sporting club or the local branch of a service club. A sponsor regularly receives current information about a sponsored child, as well as photos – and a sponsorship certificate.

The purpose and objective of these sponsorships is to support a child until the end of their education, and beyond too, if possible (Lale Labuko helps the children he has looked after for the rest of their lives, whenever they need support). But of course you will be able to end your sponsorship at any time by providing one year’s notice.

The names of sponsors can also be published on this website, if you like.

Through sponsorship, you will not only ensure that a child is looked after, you will also be looking after the child’s future.
You will be helping in a very special way, because sponsorship is a huge psychological support to the child, knowing that somebody believes in you.
Sponsored children become responsible adults who take their future into their own hands and change the world in which they live.
